Khan and Duminy hit tons

Dolphins’ Imran Khan and JP Duminy of the Cape Cobras scored centuries on the first day of the latest round of Supersport cricket matches yesterday.

Khan made 115 against the Lions at Kingsmead. At the close of play, the Dolphins had reached 228 for four.

At Willowmoore Park in Benoni, the Cobras posted 401 for seven with Duminy making 124, which included 22 fours.

Andrew Puttick was second-highest scorer with 88. He and Herschelle Gibbs, who returned to the side, put on 39 for the first wicket. Gibbs was out for 29, becoming the first of three victims by fast bowler Morne Morkel.

At St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth, the Warriors made 237 for six by the close of play. Having lost three wickets for just 48 runs, Arno Jacobs and Ashwell Prince combined for a fourth-wicket stand that yielded 112 runs. Jacobs top-scored with 77 while Prince was out shortly before the close of play for 51. The wickets were shared among three. CJ de Villiers took two for 48, Victor Mpitsang two for 34 and Thandi Tshabalala two for 60.
